Toronto Police Check

Residents of Toronto (incl. Toronto, North York, Scarborough, East York, Etobicoke) (Postal Code beginning with ‘M’) require a police check from the Toronto Police Services. See below for details.

  • Unpaid Student Placement/Volunteer - $26.72

  • Paid Student Placement/Employees - $65

Process (Online)(Fastest)

  1. Visit the link below to visit the Toronto Police Services Website:

  2. Click on the link at the top of the page “Register for an Adult Police Record Check - APPLY HERE”

  3. Submit your application – Use Code Below when prompted

    • MHA’s Organizational Code: Call Office for the Code

Process (In-Person)

  1. Visit our Information Access counter at our Headquarters, located at 40 College Street. Open Monday to Friday, excluding statutory holidays, from 7 am to 4:30 pm

  2. Your agency will need to provide you with their agency code in order for you to submit your application

    • MHA’s Organizational Code: Call Office for Code

  3. Administrative fee, if applicable, can be paid with debit or credit at our Information Access counter

Process (By Mail)

  1. Your agency will need to provide you with our application form, which must have their agency code on it

    • Request TPS Form from the Office

    • Download here and print

      • Note: Must be printed on Legal-Sized Paper

  2. You will need to mail us your completed, signed application form, as well as clear copies of your two pieces of government-issued identification, and your payment, if applicable, which can be paid by certified cheque, business cheque or money order made payable to Toronto Police Service

  3. Mailing address:

  4. Wait for processing. (Could take up to 4-6 weeks)

  5. Results

    • If cleared, your form will return to your home address. Please submit to the office as soon as possible for filing.

    • If not cleared, your form will return to the College for review   

  6. Return to the College for placement in your student file

York Region Police Check

Residents of York Region (incl. Vaughan, Richmond Hill, Markham, King, Aurora, Newmarket, Stouffville, Georgina, Gwillimbury) require a police check from the York Regional Police. See below for details.

  • In-Person Applicant - $79

  • Online Applicant - $73

  • Volunteer/Student Applicant - $34

  • Cash, Debit, VISA or MasterCard. Must be paid in full at submission.

Peel Regional Police Check

Residents of Peel Region (incl. Mississauga, Brampton) require a police check from the Peel Regional Police. See below for details.

  • Student/Volunteer - $35  (with Valid Student ID)

Process (Online) 

  1. All Record Checks must be submitted online

  2. Requirements

    • 2 pieces of Government issued ID (1 must have a photo and one with proof of address) incl.

      • Accepted Photo ID:

        • Driver's License

        • Foreign Driver's License

        • Canadian Passport

        • Ontario Photo Card

        • Canadian Citizenship Card

        • Permanent Resident Card (PR)

      • Other IDs that you can use with your Photo ID: 

        • Birth Certificate

        • Study/Work Permit

        • Immigration Documents

        • Marriage Certificate

      • If current address is not on your ID, must provide proof of local address dated within the past 30 days

        • Utility Bills

        • Government-issued Mail

        • Bank Statement
