Description
GPA Basics (4th Ed) is a 7.5 hour evidence-based education session taught by a GPA Certified Coach, designed for team members who care for older adults who display responsive behaviours associated with dementia. GPA is taught Canada-wide to care providers across various sectors. Learners complete four modules which include interactive exercises, creative multimedia, and reflective learning. Learners gain purposeful knowledge and develop skills that can be immediately used at the point of care. (Source: AGE Inc.)
Delivery
The GPA Basics Course takes place in-class and involves several exciting and engaging activities. The course is delivered either as one 8-hour class.

Dress Code

Certification
GPA Basics Certificate will be awarded at the end of the session
Course Content
Over the 7.5 hour program, trainees will learn:
A person-centred approach to care, understanding the unique human behind the disease
The relationship between the progress of the disease and behavioural responses
Confidence building
Respectful self protection safeguards for both the caregiver and the person with dementia
